Competence OSCE for midwifery Profession
As part of the ongoing development of the Test of Competence OSCE for midwifery. Candidates will still sit a 15 station OSCE but these changes will mean that there will be a greater selection of skills that could be assessed which will make the assessment less predictable. A recurring observation was that while the fundamental knowledge and procedures remained the same, distinct variations were noted in the utilisation of medical equipment.


Practice Opportunities:
By structuring the program around small groups , Interprofesional Education and Collaboration candidates get more opportunities to practice their skills. As a result the trainers cover a higher number of skill stations, leading to greater success for our participants.


Evidence-Based Practice ,Specially Management Disaster :
Candidates write a paper focusing on a specific aspect of Midwifery care. They must provide evidence that their approach and implementations are current and substantiate Best Practices. Thereby demonstrating that their practice remains up-to-date and is of the highest standards of care.


Professional Values Stations (PACER) :
Candidates write a paper that presents a professional dilemma. Their response must demonstrate High integrity to uphold their professional values hence the Midwifery Code of Conduct.
Clinical Skills Stations : Where candidates demonstrate expertise and competence by performing 4 skills selected from a list of 13 Midwifery competencies.


Tips for Success OSCE Exam
Remain Calm and Focused, Communicate Effectively: Practice active listening and clear communication with simulated patients, colleagues, and examiners. Collaboration, Emphaty and Comppassion, respect, and professionalism in your interactions.
Prioritise Patient Safety: infection control, and emergency response and Management Disaster Maternal and Neonatal etc. Adhere to protocols and procedures to minimise risks.


Time Management: Manage your time efficiently during each station, allocating sufficient time for tasks while ensuring completion within the allotted timeframe. Pace yourself to avoid rushing or leaving tasks unfinished.


Reflect and Learn: Regardless of the outcome, take time to reflect on your performance after the exam. Identify areas for improvement and incorporate feedback into your ongoing learning and development as a Midwifery.
