Opus Torrentia is a surreal exploration RPG Maker Game inspired from classics like Earthbound and Yume Nikki (or you can also say it’s also a YNFG), where you play as the Cardinal as they try to complete a story book, with the help of the wise maiden/visionary Eden, and get all the 10 passages.
I’m unsure if I have gotten everything (as there’s a mystery unreachable(?) door, and a weird thing on the computer area.), at least I think I have gotten the one bigger secret
Overall, with some spoilers, this is a pretty good game. Probably one of the best games I’ve played that is released as well this month (and as for anytime, alongside with the other game I’m posting as a one-off/one-way collab.) It reminds me of multiple things, in a good way. As for YNFG, it reminds me of at least Oversomnia, tho also more as well like Swan Song (the rpgmz(?) one), or I guess now I remember, something like Motel Snooze: Suite Dreams. As for general, it reminds me of HalOPE or Moon Remix RPG in a lesser scale. There’s a lot of love on this game. Pixel Art, is an instant 10/10. A lot of really handcrafted amazing areas. The OST is really amazing as well (despite me failing my self quiz I’m pretty sure.) The NPCs felt really mattering, and also explains further the world they are in/worldbuilding. Items, which basically some-most of them are basically Effects... some are really cool, the rest is basically just cosmetics effects, which are alright. I guess the best thing is like checking some of the items, mostly are the green ones, which also has additional tidbits, and as always, I’m a sucker for reading/checking items, like any other playthrough, which again has a really cool tale to tell. As for the whole story/what do we get for completing the book? As for one thing every ynfg has, it’s basically events. It doesn’t have RNG events unfortunately, but I think again, this is just more of like a sidequest/getting to the goal surreal exploration anyways, and certainly they just want to tell a tale I think from how the game goes.
Overall it’s a very fun game, and I guess it’s a unique YNFG/Yume Nikki Inspired game as well.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and may stars guide you.
