শেষ পর্যন্ত জুতোর ভেতরের স্টিকার দেখে, সেই সূত্র ধরেই লাশ শনাক্ত করা সম্ভব হল। কিন্তু খুনটা করল কে ? অনুসন্ধান করে জানা গেল, নিহত ব্যক্তি তাঁর এক বন্ধুর সঙ্গে একটি নিমন্ত্রণ বাড়ি থেকে মদ্যপ অবস্থায় ফিরছিলেন। তাঁদের গাড়ির গাড়োয়ানের কথা অনুযায়ী আর একটি লোকও ওঁদের সঙ্গেই ওই গাড়িতেই উঠেছিল! কে সে লোক ? সেই কি খুনি ? তাহলে ফোর্টের ভেতরে রক্ত মাখা চিঠিটাই বা কোত্থেকে এল ? ওখানে তো রাতের বেলায় সাধারণ মানুষের প্রবেশ নিষেধ । তবে কি... । প্রিয়নাথের অসামান্য বুদ্ধির প্রয়োগে শেষ পর্যন্ত কীভাবে ধরা পড়ল খুনি, তারই চমকপ্রদ গল্প 'গড়ের মাঠে খুন' ।
