Samidare is a piece that is very close to my heart. It's become a theme of connection between a student and teacher that remains strong despite separation. The last time I preformed this piece, it was four or so years ago with my now-former student. He's off to college now, so I find myself listening to this piece again with a new context of pride and happiness. Many people say that teachers can impact countless minds of their students, but I've found that it's often been the other way around as well.

Naruto may be over the top at times, but there are some beautiful themes of bonding and closeness that are unrivaled in other media. While Samidare isn't the most technically-difficult piece out there, it still touches my heart in the same way it did when I first performed it those years ago. In running with my theme of re-recording my favorite pieces for my 2K sub celebration, I knew this piece had to be included.
