1977 Lasse Hallström - "Eagle" (from "ABBA: the movie")

Описание к видео 1977 Lasse Hallström - "Eagle" (from "ABBA: the movie")

Swedish director Lasse Hallström started his career by making promo clips for ABBA in 1973. In 1977 the project "ABBA: the movie" happened to become Hallström's second feature film, when it was decided to blend the planned live and documentary recordings of ABBA's Australian tour with a fictional narrative and to shoot everything on 35mm Panavision film.

This excerpt looks very much like a music video and is only linked to the movie's story by a few short shots of the main character interviewing ABBA in an elevator, and with visual references to that elevator. It contains an unusual amount of special effects in comparison to Hallström's other works. When viewing this it is often unclear which effects exactly have been used. Mirrors, special lighting and compositing techniques have been used in abundance.

Hallström would later direct some very interesting movies like "Mitt liv som hund" (1985) and "What's eating Gilbert Grape" (1993).
