This second stage of the Trans-Mongolian Railway head further North from the chaotic capital of nomadic Mongolia to the edge of Lake Baikal in Siberian Russia. The train passes through the snowy Mongolian steppes to the border town of Sukhbaatar and crosses into Russia and the gateway city of Ulan Ude, before following the edge of the magnificent lake around to the Siberian city of Irkutsk.
