Barefoot Tracks of Whangarei: Taiharuru and Huitau Pa

With dramatic landscapes, windswept cliff tops, and a spectacular coastline, this barefoot track is glorious walk where one is completely blown away by its breath-taking beauty.
This track is not signposted, there is just a pull-in bay for parking, and an inviting open gate that takes you to the site of the Taiharuru Pa, and then continues around the headland to Huitau Pa. While there is not a lot of archeological remnants that remain, you can see why Ngati Wai chose these spots as their lookout points, with vast visual scope to spot visitors (or less welcome arrivals).
