*കേരളത്തിൽ അതിശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്ക് സാധ്യതയുള്ളതിനാൽ കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് ഓറഞ്ച് അലർട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു*.

കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥാവകുപ്പിന്റെ അടുത്ത 5 ദിവസത്തേക്കുള്ള പുതുക്കിയ മഴ സാധ്യത പ്രവചനം

വിവിധ ജില്ലകളിൽ കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് ഇന്ന് (29-05-2024) ഓറഞ്ച് അലർട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

29-05-2024: തിരുവനന്തപുരം, കൊല്ലം, പത്തനംതിട്ട, ആലപ്പുഴ, കോട്ടയം, ഇടുക്കി, എറണാകുളം

എന്നീ ജില്ലകളിൽ കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് ഓറഞ്ച് അലർട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ടയിടങ്ങളിൽ അതിശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്കുള്ള സാധ്യതയാണ് പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. 24 മണിക്കൂറിൽ 115.6 mm മുതൽ 204.4 mm വരെ മഴ ലഭിക്കുമെന്നാണ് അതിശക്തമായ മഴ (Very Heavy Rainfall) എന്നത് കൊണ്ട് കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് അർത്ഥമാക്കുന്നത്.

🌊Kerala Coasts Get Ready for Tsunami സുനാമി നേരിടാന് ഒരുങ്ങി കേരള തീര🌊

A hybrid-stakeholder consultation for implementing the Tsunami Ready Programme headed by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority with the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) & UNESCO was held on May 24, 2024, in Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr. Sekhar Lukose Kuriakose Member Secretary of Kerala State Disaster Management Authority spearheaded the program launch. He outlined a comprehensive plan to make nine coastal districts safeguarding an estimated 10.5 million residents Tsunami Ready. This initiative initially prioritizes 9 coastal panchayats with the long-term goal of encompassing the entire Kerala coast. Dr. Sekhar Lukose Kuriakose also emphasized that the program aims to permanently integrate tsunami preparedness into Kerala's coastal communities.

Thematic presentations by Ms Nagma Firdaus UNESCO, Mahendra R S at Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) & Dr S. K. Dash (NCCR).

Maneesha Sudheer with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham presented a detailed case study on the post-2004 tsunami experience of Amrita in Alappad, showcasing how technology & humanity converge in tsunami management.

Further Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, KUFOS & Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) shared valuable insights as significant stakeholders in this initiative.

🎦 Presentation of a short video on Tsunami Readiness-NbSs in Valiyaparamba prepared by KSDMA.

🗣 Additionally representatives from Kerala Police, Fire & Rescue LSGD, Road Safety Authority departments & the selected nine coastal panchayat representatives shared their views on tsunami preparedness.
