In 2019, there were 417 mass shootings in the United States. Think about that; that's more shootings than days in the year. 42 of those shootings occurred in schools, and for students like me, those statistics are terrifying. I wrote the first lines of this song after Parkland in 2018, and finished it in September of 2019...nothing in our laws has changed in that time to prevent these acts of terror from happening, and high school students like me live with the knowledge that we could be shot and killed in our own schools.

This is a commentary on the state of our nation as it applies to that topic, and my real fears for what could happen to me and many others of nothing is done. It's a little more political than I usually get, but I felt it needed to be done.
