An organization's culture--the way your employees think and act--is either an engine propelling the organization toward its desired results, or an anchor impeding progress and hindering performance.

Corporate culture is the convergence of the way your employees think and act, and the beliefs they hold that drive the actions they choose to take. Every organization has a default culture. That culture is producing the results you are achieving today.

Consider the business results you wish to achieve in the future. If the majority of your employees continue to think and act (your culture) in the manner they do today, will you achieve those results?

What shifts are needed in the way your employees currently think and act would accelerate change or thrust you toward your desired results?

Strategy is useless with an ineffective culture. You can have the absolute best strategy and intent, but that means little with an ineffective culture. A culture that is aligned, sees the "why" driving the strategy, with employees that can make the connection as to how they can help impact the result and then voluntarily take accountability to make it happen is where change must start.

Leadership MUST define and shape the desired culture. The culture is a reflection of leadership. The actions your people take and the beliefs they hold (that always drive actions) are a result of the way they are led.

Culture will execute the strategy. Everyone in the organization must be able to understand how what they do contributes to the overall success of the organization.
In one sense, your culture is your brand. It is the way your organization is perceived. Ideally, an organizations culture is strongly aligned with the brand promise. Your culture is a manifestation of the way your employees think and behave -- the experiences they create.

Organizations are shadows of their leaders. Leaders cannot delegate culture shaping or culture change.
