Here is today’s word of blessings for you, .
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
Today’s title is “The Beginning of Temptation.”
The peaceful harmony of Eden was interrupted by the voice of the serpent. Cunning and deceitful, he sowed seeds of doubt with a subtle question: “Did God actually say…?” Temptation always begins with questioning God’s truth.
The serpent twisted God’s word, turning His generosity into restriction. The woman, though knowledgeable of God’s command, slightly altered His words. In doing so, the foundation of truth began to weaken. When we add to or subtract from God’s Word, the enemy gains ground.
Every temptation seeks to distort God’s character. The serpent implied that God was withholding something good. But God’s commands are not to limit joy but to protect it. Freedom apart from truth leads only to bondage.
Even today, the serpent whispers in new forms — “Does God really mean that?” Our defense is unwavering trust in Scripture. When God’s Word fills our hearts, lies lose their power, and temptation cannot prevail.
Let us pray.
Lord God, guard us against the lies of the enemy. Keep our hearts anchored in Your Word and our minds discerning of deception. Give us strength to resist doubt and to stand firm in Your truth. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
