The Arraymusic Young Composers’ Workshop (YCW) will take place at the Arraymusic studio
from May 2 - 25, with the final concert at the studio on the afternoon of May 25th.
The workshop is designed to give composers the opportunity to write music and hear their
work in progress, making changes and improvements in consultation with the performers and
the workshop mentors. This will be an opportunity for composers to try things, to experiment
and to freely develop their work through hearing the work-in-progress. In addition to sessions
each week with the ensemble, the composer’s attend each other’s sessions to learn from each
other’s work. There will be weekly seminars where composers can share previous works and
other aspects of composition can be discussed. Each composer can also book a private
lesson with Allison.
This year the ensemble will consist of: B-flat/bass clarinet, cello and percussion (including:
vibraphone, crotales, concert bass drum, large gong, 4 toms, bongos, kick drum, various
cymbals and small percussion such as woodblocks, cowbells and others).
