The dry, sun-scorched vegetation went up like a tinder box, helping the fires spread. The fire-fighters worked tirelessly trying to extinguish the blaze and stop it from spreading where they could. But it had already spread across 100,000 acres, tearing down homes and claiming lives, and it didn't seem to be over yet. Northern California had seen its share of fires, each time more devastating to witness. Fran was staying at friends now and was lucky to escape with Bobby the cat and not much else. Watching it on the news from the next State they all wore shocked expressions. The news reporter carried on matter-of-factly “...and as the death toll rises, authorities now believe these devastating fires to be started by arson...”
