Sophie's Garden No15 Carrot Root Fly defeated!

We've installed a 2 foot high fly screen around the carrots and it seems to be effective in stopping Carrot Root Fly. I never thought for one minute that the suggestion that the root fly only travels at less than 18 inches off the ground was in anyway credible but we've put the barrier in place and we don't have any damage at all. We're using the same raised bed as last year and the same varieties. Last year we had massive root fly destruction of the crop, this year there's absolute no sign of the horrible little pest.

Sophie calls this barrier the carrots play pen, which I guess is what it looks like. I made the frame as four separate panels that just tie together and can be stored easily over winter.
