Visayakanth real name is Visayaraj. He was born on August 25, 1952 in Ramanujapuram, a small town near Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district.His family migrated to Madurai at an early age. Thus, Visvakanth grew up in Madurai. Due to his passion for cinema at an early age, he was not interested in studies.

Vijayaraj, who was roaming the streets of Madurai, made his debut as Vijaykanth at an early age due to his interest in cinema. His pace of filmmaking was such that he became a leading protagonist, releasing 18 films in a single year, only to become a successful actor.
