We are in conversation with Bhavika who was one of the brilliant students we had in our face-to-face batches. She is currently doing her articleship at one of the top firms in India (she had no references). HOW DID SHE DO IT?

In this video, she shares her CA journey right from opting for a commerce stream to securing articleship. So if you’re someone who is confused about articleship, this video is a MUST WATCH FOR YOU!

When Bhavika opted for commerce in 11th class she had the PERCEPTION that every commerce student pursues CA so she decided that she will never do CA.

She was inclined towards fashion designing. After her 12th exams, her father asked her to try CA foundation once, and to everyone’s surprise, she secured a RANK in CA FOUNDATION. With time she developed an interest in the subjects especially law.

Even though she SCORED AMAZINGLY WELL in 12th class, she decided not to do graduation from a regular college and thus opted for a distance course. When asked what would be her advice to juniors who are yet to decide whether they should go for a regular college or not, she says one should take that decision after their SWOT ANALYSIS.

SWOT stands for strengths, weakness, opportunity and threat. Someone who is good at MULTITASKING should definitely join a regular college.

She confesses THERE WAS A DRASTIC CHANGE IN CURRICULUM AT CA INTERMEDIATE LEVEL but with time & efforts she got used to it.

She cleared CA INTER in first go. Then came the time to decide from where is she going to do articleship - MID SIZE OR BIG FIRMS? Although everyone she knew said that a mid-size firm gives you knowledge of all fields, she decided to RESEARCH ON HER OWN and made her LINKEDIN ACCOUNT in search for the answer.

She realised that the decision of choosing firm for articleship should be based on the CAREER OBJECTIVE. Whether we want to stay in the corporate world or do we plan to start our own CA firm.

Since her plan was to continue in the corporate sector, she decided to try in top firms. But with no contacts in such firms and nobody to guide she started NETWORKING ON LINKEDIN and finally made it to GRANT THORTON in the STATUTORY AUDIT department.

In TECHNICAL ROUND she was asked to state ACCOUNTING STANDARDS and questions related to CARO 2020.

She is happy with the work culture at GRANT THORTON. Although she is finding it challenging to balance work, studies and family time but hopes to learn work in few months and subsequently find time for other stuff.
