After a wave of protests took to the streets of many major Iranian cities, and news outlets reported the first casualties from clashes with police, US President Donald Trump stated that if Iran kills peaceful protesters, the United States will come to their aid.
"If Iran starts shooting and brutally killing peaceful protesters, as they are wont to do, the United States of America will come to their aid. We are ready to act. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President Donald John Trump," the US President wrote on his social media account. On the fifth day of nationwide protests, demonstrators took to the streets in cities including Nahavand, Lordegan, Qom, Farsan, Marvdasht, Mashhad, Arak, Kavar, Harsin, Kermanshah, Tehran, Islamabad-Gharb, and Nourabad-Lorestan.
At least five people were killed in clashes with security forces during demonstrations across the country. In his address to the Iranian people, Prince Reza Pahlavi called those killed in the protests "true heroes" and called for unity and focus until Iran's liberation.
On Thursday, the Tasnim news agency reported that a coordinated operation by security and intelligence agencies on Wednesday evening identified and arrested 30 people who "disturbed public order" in Malard, west of Tehran. However, the exact number of protesters arrested nationwide is unknown. Prominent American entrepreneur Josh Wolf supported the protesters in Iran and stated that if Iran is liberated, he would be one of the first investors to enter the country. He also posted a photo of himself next to Prince Reza Pahlavi.
