Leo VI passed away in 912, leaving behind a seven-year-old son and a realm slowly growing in strength, yet storm clouds were gathering on the horizon. Seven-year-olds cannot rule alone, nor could peace ever last long in East Rome, for the Empire's enemies were massing. The future was uncertain - but there were troubled years ahead, that much quickly became clear.
