the KDE, a 49 kN thrust class turbofan engine, will be tested directly on the Ghatak Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) instead of an older LSP Tejas airframe, which was earlier considered as a manned test platform.
The KDE program is nearing final certification, with the last phase of trials set to commence in Russia next month. These tests will mark the conclusion of the engine's overseas evaluations. The program has recently received a fresh infusion of funding to fast-track its development milestones.
