1999 Mazda Miata cam angle sensor cap replacement

How to replace the cam angle sensor cap on the back of the engine. 1999 Mazda Miata.

This cap is used to plug up the hole that was left behind when Mazda engineers move the cam angle sensor from the back of the engine to the front and call it the cam position sensor. The symptom of the faulty cap is oil leak on the back of the engine. If you see drip of oil under the transmission when you go under the car. Don't just assume it's a leaky rear main seal. Check out this cap first.

And for some reason information for this specific cap is hard to find. Lots of publication said to replace the o-ring for the cam angle sensor. But most of them were written for the 1st generation Miata. This is the essentially the same thing.
