Finger millets/ ragi is a rich source of calcium which helps to strengthen bones for growing children and aging people. It is a gluten-free food. It is also rich in fiber that helps weight loss and diabetes and is packed with good carbs, amino acids, and vitamin D.
Puttu is a famous South indian breakfast recipe and Puttu is nothing but steamed rice flour cakes or logs layered with coconut in between. Traditionally puttu is prepared with rice flour or red rice flour, but you can also make it with other flours like wheat or millet or quinoa as well
Puttu is healthy breakfast option for sure. Serve it with a banana and cooked green gram/ green moong dal for a balanced and a filling meal. You can also serve it with black chickpeas curry. This ragi puttu is vegan and gluten-free.

Preparing Ragi/Finger Millet puttu is very simple. All you have to do is mix the Ragi flour with salt and water then steam it. you can steam puttu in the puttu maker or without puttu maker also. In this video my mom use idli pot with wet cloth on the idli tray to spread the Ragi puttu flour and use another wet cloth cover it to keep the flour soft and moist.
After steam it for 7 to 10 minutes transfer it to bowl and mix with Grated coconut, sugar , Ghee, Cardamom powder then serve to your beloved ones. I'm sure it's a wonderful recipe to enjoy with family.
