In this Historical Investigation Lab, students enter the "Manhunt" to track the sprawling web of conspirators, targets, and crime scenes. Instead of reading a textbook summary of the "lone gunman," students investigate the three-pronged attack, analyze "War Department" evidence, and uncover the roles of accomplices like Mary Surratt and Dr. Mudd.

WHAT IS A HISTORICAL INVESTIGATION LAB?
This is a digital, interactive inquiry tool. Students explore a visual network map connecting key figures, critical events, and primary sources. They actively follow the evidence to understand why Secretary Seward was attacked, why the Vice President was spared, and how the manhunt ultimately tracked Booth to a burning barn in Virginia.
