The nerubians, much like their qiraji cousins, adapted their architecture from the tol'vir society they conquered when they settled in Northrend, though they eventually became very good engineers and architects in their own right. After the War of the Spider, the Scourge adopted the nerubians' architectural style, which can best be seen in their ziggurats and necropolises. The best example is Naxxramas itself, which was originally a nerubian ziggurat before it was conquered by Anub'arak himself for the Lich King. In addition, the Scourge began using the nerubian language to name some of its various strongholds, such as Acherus, Naxxramas itself or En'kilah.

The nerubians which survived the war with the Lich King regrouped under the group called the Azjol-anak, led by the nerubian vizier Seer Ixit. Though it is unkown if they comprise all of the remaining nerubians or not, they are known to have an enormous secret stash of eggs hidden away, which they intend to use to repopulate Azjol-Nerub, and have also actively fought against both the Scourge and the Faceless Ones. The old Wrath of the Lich King Bestiary noted the rumors of an unseen nerubian emperor guiding the survivors, though that plotline has not been referenced ever again.

The nerubians once employed creatures known as the arachnathids as guardians of Azjol-Nerub, though they eventually lost control over them when the Scourge came. They were encountered in Warcraft 3 and, though absent from Wrath of the Lich King, have been stated to be very much alive and present in Northrend later on. Another Warcraft 3 creature absent from Wrath are the nerubian queens, stated to be both leaders and mothers to their subjects. It is also rumored that the queens can genetically pass knowledge to their daughters.

Bone spiders are a unique type of spider sometimes associated with nerubians. They are sometimes encountered alongside undead nerubian forces, such as in Naxxramas, and those serving the Scourge are said to already be undead from the moment they hatch. In addition, during the fall of Azjol-Nerub, the nerubian viziers released one which they hoped would one day grow to challenge the Scourge. Eventually, that spider named Hadronox made its lair near the entrance of the fallen kingdom and decimated Scourge forces.

In the original video almost 4 years ago, I claimed that the nerubians were the ancestors of all spiders, and the silithid of all insects. Looking back, that's most likely untrue. The Warcraft 3 manual stated that most scholars believed that spiders are descended fron nerubians, and that seems rather questionable now. As to the insects being descended from the silithid, I have no idea where I pulled that from.
