【メルヘン街道】秋の雪冠となった麦草峠、その景観からドイツ・メルヘン街道に因んで命名された国道299号内の観光山岳道路 | 終点（長野県南佐久郡佐久穂町）→ 起点（茅野市豊平）全線

メルヘン街道は北八ヶ岳を横断する山岳観光道路です。名称の由来はドイツ・メルヘン街道に景観が似ていることから名付けられたと言われています。
長野県茅野市豊里付近のビーナスラインとの交点（鬼場橋交差点）を起点とし長野県南佐久郡佐久穂町（清水町交差点）が終点となりますが、起点を示す標識はありましたが終点を示す標識は確認できなかったのでもしかしたら間違ってるかもしれません。
途中にある標高2,127mの麦草峠は国道292号志賀草津高原道路（渋峠：2,172m）に次いで日本の国道第二位の標高となります。両国道とも11月~4月あたりは冬季閉鎖で通行止めとなるのでご注意ください。
今回の撮影は2021年10月下旬に行い紅葉した木々に若干雪がかぶった箇所があるという幻想的な秋景色が楽しめました。

The Märchenkaido is a mountain tourist road that crosses the North Yatsugatake Mountains. It is said that the name comes from the similarity of the scenery to that of the German Märchenkaido.
The road starts at the intersection with the Venus Line near Toyosato, Chino City, Nagano Prefecture (Oniba-bashi intersection) and ends at Sakuho Town, Minamisaku-gun, Nagano Prefecture (Shimizu-cho intersection), but there was a sign indicating the starting point, but I couldn't see a sign indicating the ending point, so I may be wrong.
The 2,127-meter-high Mugusa Pass on the way is the second-highest national highway in Japan after the 2,172-meter-high Shibutoge (Shibutoge) on National Highway 292, Shiga-Kusatsu-Kogen Road. Please note that both roads are closed in winter from November to April.
This photo shoot was taken in late October 2021, and I was able to enjoy the fantastic autumn scenery of trees with red leaves and some parts covered with snow.
