Sengoku Musou 3: Empires - Toyotomi Story

Hideyoshi's story can be very quickly summarized as "he unites Japan like usual, but is really nice about it".

By that I mean from the onset when he's talking to Kanbei on the roof, he mentions that he wants to take over the land in his own way, making everyone happy. That includes keeping Mitsuhide and Katsuie alive, as well as everyone else he fights. Which is exactly what happens. The most interesting part of this is that it means characters like Mitsuhide outright join us, letting us use them in battles. This story probably has the biggest roster of playable units because of that.

I don't really have much to summarize with this one. A few notes of interest are that Hideyoshi recruits the Uesugi by astounding them by riding to their camp completely unarmed, since he was confident they valued justice and so wouldn't attack him. Kanetsugu does the same thing with generic Kagekatsu here we see him do for playable Kagekatsu in SW4, where he barely says anything and Kanetsugu interprets most of it.

Mitsuhide has a talk with Nene about feeling out of place, thinking he's only a bother for Hideyoshi as most of the country condemns him now. Nene tells him he's part of their family now and to not worry about, instead try to honor Nobunaga by helping Hideyoshi create a new world. She has a similar scene with Oichi and Katsuie, and another with Toshiie.

Later, Nene makes a big meal for Hideyoshi for keeping his promise and sparing everyone he fought. During the meal she almost discovers a love letter he wrote to Oichi, but manages to eat it before she can read it.

The final fight is against the Hojo, who have allied with the Date. After winning, Hideyoshi hosts a big "daimyo shogi match" in the ending cutscene. Mitsuhide and the others are oddly missing from this, which gives me the idea that sparing them wasn't initially planned when they made the cutscenes for this story.

I feel kind of bad for not writing out more, especially after the Date one, but there's really just not a whole lot that goes on you haven't seen before. Oh well, they can't all be winners.
