My 600-lb Life is an American reality show on the TLC network. Since it's debut in 2012, the show has followed individuals whose body weight exceeds 600 pounds as they attempt to get their weight under control. This is done with the help of the show's on-call doctor, Dr. Now. As the name of the show suggests, contestants that come on the show are generally not in the best of health. Because of this, the show has seen several of it's stars succumb to health complications after their televised appearances. In one case, a star even died while the show was still filming.

Eight stars have died since My 600-lb Life began airing in 2012, and three of those stars were introduced during the show's sixth season. Among the deaths, most were caused by health complications related to their excessive weight. However, a few cases are not so obviously connected to their struggles with weight loss. Some of the contestants died well before their time, while others had lived longer lives. As well, some of the contestants that died were successful during their time on the show, while others had trouble following their weight loss plans. The weights of the stars ranged from over 1000 pounds to just a little over 600, which shows just how wide of a range of people the show has covered over it's eight seasons.

The show generally follows one new person per episode, with some stars being brought back on for a glimpse at how they've progressed since their previous appearance. Many of those that have been featured on the show have gotten to return to show off their success stories, while many others haven't had any success stories to show. The eight stories featured in this video are all mired in tragedy, whether the stars they involve were successful at losing weight or not.
