Team Canada manager Alan Eagleson re-enacts his historic scuffle with Russian army members at the Luzhniki Ice Palace in Moscow during Game 8 of the Summit Series between Canada and Russia. Eagleson was protesting the goalight not going on after Yvan Cournoyer’s game tying goal. He was trying to make his way down to the ice when he was jumped by Red Army Officers. Eagleson was saved by Team Canada hockey players, starting with Pete Mahovlich. Mahovlich jumped over the boards to his rescue as Eagleson was being escorted out of the arena. He was brought back to the Canadian players’ bench while waving his fist at the goal judge. At that point the game was tied 5-5. Canadian players joked that they might be sent to Siberia for the rest of their lives. Eagleson visited Moscow in the early 90s as part of the Summit on Ice documentary created by Canadian sports television producer legend, the late Ralph Mellanby.
