The answer lies in a fascinating protein called Hemoglobin.

Hemoglobin is found in red blood cells and is responsible for transporting oxygen from our lungs to the rest of our body. This protein contains iron, which is key to its color. When hemoglobin binds with oxygen, it changes shape and reflects light differently, giving blood that vibrant red hue.

But not all blood is the same color! For instance, de-oxygenated blood, which is returning to the lungs to pick up more oxygen, appears darker red, sometimes even a bluish tint. This is all due to the way light interacts with the iron in hemoglobin.

Also, there are other species who don't have hemoglobin in their blood, so their blood is not in Red Color but in Blue and Green due to Hemocyanin and Biliverdin respectively

So, whether it’s bright red oxygen-rich blood or darker de-oxygenated blood, blue blood or green blood, the color variation is a beautiful reminder of how our bodies work tirelessly to keep us alive.
