Seoul ranked 13th on a list of the top tourist destinations in the world based on international tourist arrivals.

According to Euromonitor International's annual Top City Destinations Ranking for 2014, the South Korean capital ranked 13th and the southern resort island of Jeju also made the list of 100, coming in at 94th.

Seoul saw almost 9.4 million foreign tourists in 2014, an 8.9 percent increase from the 8.2 million it saw in 2013. Jeju saw almost 2 million in 2014.

CNN said that South Korean rapper Psy's international hit, "Gangnam Style", appears to have contributed to the big leap in the number of tourists visiting Seoul, where the district of Gangnam is located.

The top destination on the Euromonitor index was Hong Kong followed by London.
