Text by the painter and poet Fabio della Corgna. The Moorish princess Zaida rails and curses not only the Christians who took her prince Mustafà away but also Medina and the Prophet for allowing it to happen: “Let the Earth swallow up Mecca, and let Medina T’Alnabì be turned upside down! Curse the day that Zaida was born, for her dear Mustafà goes by water, bound in irons, a prisoner.”
