The king is back! Here we have yet another iconic, newly rediscovered AI classic from the legend, Reginald Watson. This 1965 gem became a number one hit for many weeks, surpassing his brother Virgil on the charts, who had also just released a new single. This caused even more animosity between the two, the brothers in midst of a serious fallout and feud at the time. Things began to escalate and eventually it all lead to the brothers sabotaging each others concerts, getting each other dropped from promoters, slashing each others tour bus tires, etc etc. The pair mended their relationship later on, around when Reginald was arrested for the supposed murder of his seventh wife, becoming closer than ever before.
This was yet another very personal song to Reginald, written following a long period of what he called "serious writers block", his comeback to writing hits. The song was written with the help of his close friend, Ike Turner. This one was a truly hard find, our team searching high and low across the nation, eventually finding a copy of the song deep in the Appalachian mountains. Our team meticulously restored the classic, and now it is ready for play. RIP to the legend.
