5 Things I Learned Having a Photography Assistant

After a long drive, some reflecting on things I leared from having a photo assistant
In Patagonia, this was the first time I ever had a photography assistant. And, it was definitely a learning experience, especially since I usually spend so much time working for myself, and working alone. Moreover, I never had a photography assistant job myself, so it was a little bit strange being in that position.
That said, it was really important, and it was really valuable to me. If you're looking to hire a photography assistant as a professional photographer, there are lots of benefits, but to make the most of it, you really need to keep in mind some things.
For one, for some people photography assistant jobs are meant to gain experience, for others its about finding the last stepping stone. So, it's important to know what your photo assistant's goals are for the job.
Moreover, to make the most of having a photo assistant on location, you have to be willing to delegate and give up a little bit of control. I have a bit of a hard time doing either of those things. I'm a control freak, and I tend to like people who do things without needing to be asked.
