First, understand that the auction is not over--this was just a preliminary phase. It raised $1.9 Billion, but there are still many valuable assets to go. Terminals in important areas such as Chicago, Atlanta, New York, and other key locations are sure to fetch even greater amounts.

Second, bear in mind that XPO paid over $800 Million for doors that were valued at a much lower amount. Why? Because they are shrewd operators and have a plan for the future. They know what those doors will be worth to their business over time and how it will impact their network.

If you can similarly anticipate future impact, you can make shrewd investments as well. You can match your freight to the right carriers' networks and conduct better sourcing events. By giving your freight to the carriers who value it most, you will derive the greatest value.
