There are only so many different kinds of quests you can go on in an RPG and while there are variations upon the themes, you'll often find yourself treading paths that feel familiar depite them not being. The larger and longer the game is, the more likely this is to occur and it can ultimately sour the experience for the player.

The said, few games these days tend to have exactly the same quest thrown at you multiple times outside of repeatables. If it does happen, something is clearly amiss that warrants further investigation which will no doubt cause deviations in the flow of the quest while your character looks into it, thus creating a new experience from something old. Clever, huh?
