Webinar Abstract: Recently many studies have explored the requirements for a clean electricity and energy system across the United States (and globally). These studies typically focus on the generation and demand, which are fundamental components for cleaning the electricity and energy system. This webinar will focus on the role of transmission and how its importance is inextricably linked to lower cost clean energy systems. We will explore the different aspects of transmission and how it interacts with the decarbonization of the energy system. We will also explore alternatives to transmission and if it can be replaced as an asset for decarbonization. Finally, the webinar will show the scale of transmission requirements for decarbonization of electricity and energy for the United States.
