Stromae had grown up in life, without a father figure for all if not most of it. He was always left with his mum. He would see other children with complete families, having their fathers. He was at times enraged and did not understand this. This song emphasises his feelings about this problem he had in his life.

The entire song is about a young boy missing his father, all the reasons that he was given explaining why his father is not present by his mother.

The song also outlines how this young boy is asked by others “where is your father?” Papa oú t'es?

I have tried to sing a very little part of this song and I hope I have done some justice to this song.
