As part of the first phase of Tampa International Airport (TPA)’s master plan, Gresham Smith led the design of a 2.6 million-square-foot Consolidated Rental Car Center and SkyConnect system, 1.4-miles of Automated People Mover (APM) infrastructure. The SkyConnect connects the Main Terminal with the Rental Car Center, with a stop along the way at the Economy Parking Garage. The project allows TPA to accommodate millions more passengers in the airport's existing footprint by decongesting the roadways as well as reduces emissions and further elevates the exceptional passenger experience for which the airport is known.
