Dr. Tuteja explores the relationship between gut health and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), detailing its symptoms and prevalence, particularly among Gulf War Veterans. He discusses the effectiveness of antibiotics and probiotics and examines various therapeutic strategies while highlighting the need for further research on IBS treatment.

Dr. Ashok K. Tuteja is a professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Utah. His major area of research interest is lower intestinal function bowel disorders. He's been studying the role of infection and causing irritable bowel in Gulf War veterans for almost 20 years. His work has demonstrated that gastroenteritis during travel and deployment is a risk factor for irritable bowel syndrome. He has completed four investigator-initiated clinical trials on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), evaluating the role of antibiotics, probiotics, and anti-inflammatory agents in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) among veterans. He has ongoing studies on the role of diet and prebiotics among veterans. He's also been on the external advisory committee for the DOD clinical trials of Gulf War illness and is a member of the data safety monitoring board for the NIH National Pelvic Floor Network.

Dr. Nancy Klimas, a clinical immunologist by training, is the director of the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine who has allotted her life to helping other people find cures for their complex illnesses that were once considered helpless. She works with her fellow medical experts in researching and analyzing the deeper causes of such diseases, particularly on the neuro-immunity side, to provide the best option suited for every single case or story they handle.
