This is our family’s first camping experience at the Wyndham-Carseland Provincial Park. The campground doesn’t offer power service, shower facilities, and flush toilets, so we were a little skeptical on booking even for just a couple of nights. We thought it might be a challenge considering that we have two little ones. But we survived obviously 😁.

This Provincial Park is just a little over an hour drive from Calgary. South of Carseland town. The road heading to the park is nice so no stress on travel however heavy your loads must be.

We were at Campsite 60 in loop A. The privacy is awesome in this campsite as it is surrounded with trees and shrubs, but because of that, bugs are plentiful as well. They don’t bite but can still be annoying so plan ahead. We are just tent campers. We used medium and small tents during our stay plus a regular-sized screen house and we find our campsite a bit cramped. As with most of the campgrounds, this site have a picnic table long enough to sit ten people and a firepit that has an attached grill which was very helpful in cooking our dinner fast and easy. You may bring your own firewood or purchase at the office located in day ise area for $12/sack

We hiked along the river pathway towards the day use area. Oh boy, that was a long hike. I didn’t expect the campground to be that huge. We even got lost on our way back to our campsite 😁😁😁

The day use area is nice. There were people picnicking but not super crowded. There were some who floated down the river and launched near the dam. There’s also a good playground in the day use area our two boys enjoyed so much. But beware, bugs are worse in this area. Bug spray. Bug spray. Bug spray.

As mentioned earlier there’s no flush toilets and shower in this campground. Pit toilets will be your only choice if you don’t have RV. They are not gross to be honest but pit toilets are pit toilets. What do you expect?

Overall we loved this camping experience. We appreciate the peace and quiet, and the beauty of the nature. We recommend this campground 100% to those who love to camp even with less amenities.
