Whitewater | The Roy Faires Collection (1981)

Humans have occupied the Guadalupe River valley for thousands of years, including such Native American tribes as the Tonkawa, Waco, Lipan Apache, and Karankawa. Modern park visitors come to fish in the river's clear, spring-fed waters or hike through its varied forests and grasslands. Four natural rapids also make the Guadalupe River an attractive course for whitewater rafting. In this 1981 broadcast produced for Houston's KPRC-TV, field producer Alex Lieban joins environmental guru Don Greene to review the do's and don'ts of canoeing and kayaking on the river.
