Lamb recipe:

   • Eastbound & Wild Ep 08   4K Breezing ...

In this episode we get stuck in the mud in Coffee Bay find the wild coast we have been seeking,
dodge another storm and cross the Great Kei River on a pontoon, but first we stop for some coffee at the Rock Cafe in Coffee Bay

On August 3, 1991, the Oceanos, a Greek-owned cruise ship, set sail from East London, South Africa, en route to Durban. That fateful night, the ship encountered heavy seas and 40-knot headwinds. A breach in the hull caused the Oceanos to take on water, and soon the engines failed. Now adrift in the turbulent ocean, the captain ordered all passengers to abandon ship.

Unusually, the captain was among the first to leave. It was the onboard entertainers, Moss Hills and his wife Tracy, who bravely took charge and sent out the distress mayday call from the stricken vessel. This dramatic rescue became one of the most notable maritime rescues in history, showcasing incredible bravery, with all 571 passengers being saved. It was along this stretch of coastline that the heroic rescue operation took place.

Moss Hills, a British musician, along with his wife Tracy and other entertainers, assumed the role of leaders in the emergency. Realizing the severity of the situation, Moss climbed to the bridge, only to find it deserted.
Determined to save the passengers, Moss grabbed the ship's radio and sent out a mayday signal. His urgent message was received by the South African coast guard and broadcast to nearby vessels. The distress call triggered a massive rescue operation. Helicopters from the South African Air Force and Navy ships were swiftly dispatched to the scene.
Miraculously, all 571 passengers and crew were saved thanks to the courageous efforts of rescue helicopters and nearby ships.
As the Oceanos continued to sink, rescue helicopters hovered above the stricken vessel. Winch operators bravely descended to the deck, airlifting passengers one by one. The night was filled with the roar of helicopter engines and the determined efforts of rescuers working against the clock. Thanks to Moss Hills' quick thinking and the heroic actions of the rescue teams, all 571 passengers and crew members were saved from what could have been a devastating tragedy.

We finally find our overlanding groove on this trip.
it's an adventure where the road itself becomes a destination. We have traversed many wild and challenging landscapes often not knowing what lies beyond the next bend. It's a world where we pitch your tent under star-filled skies, wake up to the sounds of wildlife, and navigate trails that challenge both your driving skills and our spirit of adventure.
It's not just about the wild places we find, but the unforgettable experiences and the freedom we find along the way.

In the end We make our way out of this pickle with the help of locals -
We brave crossing the river and managed to navigate safely back to the main road.
The locals saved our bacon and we are forever grateful.
Unfortunately we have no footage since it was all hands on deck
