How to Shoot Backlit Portraits using An Off-Camera Flash? Learn in 4 minutes

In this video I'm going to show you how to shoot backlit portraits using a flash.

Step 1: Location assessment

Step 2: Place the subject at a spot where the sun is behind her. As her face is not illuminated, use a flash to light her up. Make sure the background is far away so it becomes more blurred when you widen the aperture.

Step 3: Determine the ambient exposure (the flash is off)

Step 4: Turn on the flash

Step 5: Adjust the flash exposure
