SHARPHAM ROAD PLAYING FIELDS Parkrun Review Event #131 - A Speedy Parkrun Course!

Sharpham Road Playing Fields Parkrun! A flat 2 lap course around Sharpham Road Playing Fields, Cheddar. The route is run on a mixture of tarmac paths, trail paths and grass. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain! Join me as I provide an in-depth review of my Sharpham Road Playing Fields Parkrun experience.

Sharpham Road Playing Fields Parkrun consists of two out-and-back laps on a mixture of grass, trail and tarmac/cinder tracks. Start (green marker) is on the playing fields, go around the rugby pitch and into a short wooded stretch, turning left onto the Strawberry Line path (at the blue marker), then up to the northern turning point around the log benches and then down to the southern turning point by the access ramp (purple markers). Return to go around the north edge of the playing fields, back into the woods and repeat for lap 2.
At the end of lap 2 cut across the playing fields (from the orange marker) to the finish (red marker).
There are some narrow sections on the course where those taking part with buggies, children under 11, and dogs, should take extra care. In winter, please note that some sections of the course may become soft underfoot.
When the playing fields are waterlogged they sometimes use an alternative route taking in more of the Strawberry Line and less of the playing fields to avoid cancellation.

Dogs, buggies / prams are allowed at this parkrun and there are public toilets close to the start / finish area. The route is run on a mixture of tarmac paths, trail paths and grass., therefore, trail shoes are reccomended or in dry conditions road shoes are fine. In terms of how busy the parkrun is, it is a fairly quiet parkrun, with a good amount of space at the start. There are on average 108 runners/joggers/walkers a week. Due to the course being flat, the course does have the potential for a PB in the dry summer months!

I will be doing parkruns all over the UK and rest of the world! Every Saturday I take part in a 5K run trying my hardest to get under 20 mins. Sharpham Road Playing Fields Parkrun is a great run to tick off the "S" on the alphabeteer challenge and it is the fourth "S" I have done! Let me know if you have ever completed the course.
