Another rare music video from NEW WAVE DAVE. This song “Power Plant” is Dave’s anti-nuclear war song, but he said it’s also “about being cool and riding dirt bike’s.” He claims it played on MTV twice. I can find no record of this.

As I’ve said before, I can find NO mention of Dave’s music in any book or documentary on Punk or New Wave, he claims he was a “big part of the scene” going back to the early 1970’s. He has provided me with copies of his cassette demos and even singles released on vinyl, but they’re not even listed on Discogs.

He claims “Power Plant” was released in 1980 and the video was produced by David Jove (creator of “New Wave Theatre,” hosted by Peter Ivers.) Jove also allegedly was responsible for setting up The Rolling Stones for a drug bust in the 60’s. These are all verifiable facts about Jove, but I can find no connection between him and New Wave Dave. Dave claims he directed the video himself, but Ivers rejected it for “New Wave Theatre.” New Wave Dave claims to be “furious at that dweeb Ivers for always undermining my talent!” The resentment New Wave Dave holds against Peter Ivers raises some alarming questions for me that I’d rather not detail here for my own safety.

Dave claims Su Tissue from Suburban Lawns played drums on this track. I don’t know her to be a drummer and it’s yet another detail that’s impossible to verify.

Anyway, here is “Power Plant,” transferred from a 3/4” tape at MY expense, given to me by New Wave Dave.
