Dutch Pianist Mike del Ferro and Dutch Vocalist Femke Smit have known each other for some time, but when they ran into each other by chance in Rio de Janeiro and spent a few days together, a special musical connection emerged. They share a passion for Brazilian music, a classical background—both having opera singers as fathers—and of course, a love for jazz and improvisation. Together, these elements provide the perfect foundation for a beautiful musical collaboration.

Mike and Femke perform not only a few well-known, but especially many lesser-known pieces by renowned Brazilian composers such as Jobim, Chico Buarque, and Milton Nascimento.

Mike del Ferro is known for his lyrical playing, while Femke captivates with her moving interpretations, making you almost forget that you don’t speak Portuguese. The result is a journey through the rich musical landscapes of Brazil.

Mike del Ferro is an acclaimed pianist from Amsterdam, composer, and world traveler known for his versatile style and ability to blend musical traditions from around the globe. With a career spanning over 100 countries, he has collaborated with a diverse range of artists and explored genres from jazz to classical, world music, and beyond. He played with jazz greats such as Toots Thielemans, Jack DeJohnette, Branford Marsalis, Randy Brecker and many others.
