Today’s Gospel, Mark 2:13-17 focuses on Jesus' radical welcome of sinners, calling Levi (Matthew) the tax collector and dining with "sinners.” By doing so, he teaches us that He came to call the sick and sinners to healing—not the self-righteous—to repentance, highlighting grace, fellowship, and God's desire to make us whole through a relationship, not through mere observance of the law.

Jesus calls Levi, a despised tax collector, with a simple "Follow me," showing His inclusive call extends to outcasts. This mirrors His call to us, inviting us to leave behind sinful ways for His new life. Sharing meals with sinners was a profound act, signifying acceptance and inclusion, unlike the Pharisees who excluded them. Jesus' presence makes sinners clean, not the other way around, showing divine grace entering brokenness.
