How Railway Level Crossings Work?

Do you know that railway level crossings are place where largest part of railway accidents happen? This is major problem in many countries and feasible solution is still not found.

Of course, there is an option to have all fully protected railway level crossings, but it is very expensive. However, there are some new technologies that could be solution to the problem. Some countries applied video cameras as well, obstacle warning systems and similar.
