La limpieza espiritual es quizás la tradición más extendida en la Sierra ecuatoriana cuando se trata de buscar salud, prosperidad económica, familia y más bendiciones en el año, para deshacerse de la mala energía.

Sin embargo, también hay plantas dulces, que son: verbena de limón, manzanilla, albahaca dulce y nuez.
Los títulos más comunes son: rue, romero, tomillo, borrachera, cicuta, entre otros.
Las plantas para baños calientes son: matico, nogal, mero, ciprés y eucalipto.

El mal de ojo es cuando los niños están inquietos o cuando los adultos están agitados o de mal humor. Incluso hay molestias en el estómago. El susto es cuando no pueden dormir y están extremadamente inquietos.
