We are often led to think that art and culture are to some extent politically left. If this is true, it is equally true that there is a similar interest in the arts among the rightwing public. The difference is in fact which art is to be taken into consideration; what is the artistic model of reference. Conservatism, even the most extreme, has its own ideal of aesthetic, harmony or justice; it is logically wrong to think that they do not have any. Rather, there is often an attitude of annoyance and skepticism on the right side towards every contemporary artistic expression and research, towards the more conceptual fringes of art, while the reworking of the past, of cultural traditions and the revival of classical beauty is welcome.
In this video (made entirely with a smartphone) the artist touches on numerous topics regarding freedom of expression, the role of art and the artist as well as the most basic dilemmas around the concept of beauty.
