A 34-year-old Boise man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for shooting a man at a house party in Boise in January 2022.

Ada County Prosecutors report that 34-year-old Jed Earls was sentenced for the murder of 22-year-old James "Matt" Cuellar. Prosecutors say that Earls attended a house party on January 15, 2022. Witnesses testified that Earls antagonized Cuellar throughout the night.

According to Prosecutors, Cuellar attempted to leave the party with a case of beer that his friend had purchased when Earls prevented him from leaving with the beer. Earls then shot Cuellar, "unprovoked."
